At Dr. Korol Dental, we are committed to providing our patients with quality and affordable dentistry services and the most advanced materials to restore and protect your oral health.

In an effort to regulate dentist prices and give all Albertans access to quality and affordable dental services, the provincial government with the Alberta Dental Association & College published an updated Alberta Dental Fee Guide.

This guide will:

  • improve access to dental care in Alberta
  • ensure dentists provide the affordable and quality care and material use that patients expect and deserve.
  • create more informed and educated consumers.
  • return dental prices to a more sustainable level.

Alberta Dental Fee Guide

The question we get asked most often at our dental clinic is: what is the Alberta dental fee guide and how will it affect the price of dentistry?

Each province and/or territory has their own dental fee guide and this year, Alberta has produced its own suggested fee guide for dentists within the province which outlines numerous dental codes and descriptors related to specific elements of dental treatments.

Is the Alberta fee guide compulsory? No. It’s important to note that the fee guide provides suggested prices: dentists are not obligated to follow the guide or any fee schedule.

Our Team Strives To Offer Fair and Reasonable Dental Prices to All Our Patients

At Dr. Korol Dental, we are committed to providing competitive, yet fair, dental prices to our Calgary patients. However, you must be aware that certain factors can affect our dental fees including:

  • overhead costs
  • staffing
  • keeping up with modern technology
  • all other costs associated with running a dental clinic

Our prices are reasonable and ensure that we are able to provide you with the highest level of care, while still remaining competitive with other dental practices.

How Will The Alberta Dental Fee Guide Affect My Dental Insurance?

Patients should expect that the introduction of the dental fee guide could affect their insurance coverage and it’s possible that your insurance company may decide to reduce their benefits coverage.

Some insurance companies might choose to:

  • Follow a fee guide that’s lower than the updated Alberta fee guide, providing payment for claims as a percentage of the rate shown in their fee guide.
  • Limit coverage for certain procedures and treatments detailed in the updated Alberta Fee Guide.

Feeling confused?

At Dr. Korol Dental, our team understands that this can be quite confusing, which is why we’re more than happy to help you figure out which procedures are covered by your insurance provider. As a consumer, you must understand that the prices for certain dentistry services are based on factors such as lab costs and can depend highly on the complexity of each individual treatment.

If you have any questions about the costs of your dental treatment, then it’s important to book a consultation with your dentist. This will allow him/her to evaluate your oral health and provide you with a more accurate cost estimate.
