Invisalign is the most advanced and innovative method of straightening your teeth, and while it offers patients a more convenient, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable orthodontic treatment, you must be willing to fully commit to it in order to get the best results.
Here are 6 simple tips to help ensure you get the best results from your Invisalign treatment:
You have to wear them. In order to get the most effective results from your Invisalign treatment, you must make sure you wear them for at least 20-22 hours a day. This means you have to be responsible and committed wearer and must not forget to put them on after meals.
It may not be the right treatment for you. Invisalign can treat a wide range of dental issues such as crooked teeth, gaps, and minor over/under bites. However, for more complex issues, traditional braces may be able to give you faster and better results.
You should brush your teeth in-between meals. Brushing or rinsing your mouth between meals and before putting your aligners back on is important to ensure no food lingers on your teeth. This will prevent tooth discoloration and decay.
You may need to limit certain, teeth-staining drinks. Anything that will stain your natural teeth (red wine, coffee, black tea) will also stain your Invisalign aligners. To keep them in good condition, try to limit your intake of these drinks.
Always keep your previous set of aligners. While you have to change out your aligners every 2 weeks, hold onto your old ones just in case you lose or break the current set! While you wait for a replacement, wear your previous set of aligners to ensure your teeth don’t shift back into their old position.
Don’t neglect your dental cleanings. Visiting your dentist for professional cleanings during your Invisalign treatment is very important, especially because your teeth are shifting and exposing areas of the teeth that were never exposed before. (Calgary Teeth Cleanings >)
