Oral cancer is an abnormal growth or sore in the mouth that does not go away. It can include cancer of the tongue, cheek, lips, throat, and palate. Oral cancer can be life-threatening if not caught and treated early.
Oral Cancer is often asymptomatic in its early stages.
Symptoms of oral cancer can include:
- Rough/raised/ulcerated areas on the cheek, tongue, lips and other soft tissues within the mouth
- White, red or mixed patches, thickenings or swellings inside the mouth
- Unexplained bleeding, numbness, pain, tenderness in areas of the mouth, neck or face
- Difficulty eating, swallowing, speaking or using the tongue or jaw

Treatment Options
Treatment for oral cancer is similar to treatment for most other types of cancer:
- Surgical removal of the cancerous lesion followed by radiation and/or chemotherapy to get rid of any residual cancerous cells.
- Treatment for oral cancer is easier and less invasive the earlier it is diagnosed.
