  • At Our Dental Clinic In Calgary, Teeth Whitening Just Got More Effective

Do you want whiter, brighter teeth? Are you self-conscious about your smile? Our Calgary dental clinic offers effective yet gentle options, including the new POLA whitening system!

Feel Like Your Smile Is Losing Its Sparkle?

There are many reasons why teeth discolor and stain over time. If you love coffee, tea, red wine, or foods such as curries, you may find your smile looking less pearly-white than before. Additionally, certain medications, as well as habits such as smoking, can contribute to tooth discolouration.

A smile with a yellow or grey tint can cause self-consciousness and create a more aged appearance. The clear solution is teeth whitening treatment, but to many people, this method can bring a whole other array of concerns.

Visit Our Dental Clinic In Calgary: Teeth Whitening With The POLA System Cuts Down On Post-Whitening Sensitivity

A question commonly asked by our Calgary teeth whitening patients is, “Can POLA really offer reduced tooth sensitivity after whitening? How does it work?” We understand this mindset: after all, many at-home dental products like whitening trays can leave teeth and gums feeling sensitive and uncomfortable after a treatment. Additionally, some patients avoid even highly safe in-office treatments due to tooth sensitivity.

POLA’s whitening formulation makes it one of the best whitening dental products on the market. The whitening gel has a neutral pH and a high viscosity and water content, thus helping to minimize tooth sensitivity.

How It Works:

  1. The POLA whitening system uses a specific concentration of hydrogen peroxide to break down stains and restore the teeth to their natural whiteness.
  2. The hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen after interacting with the tooth enamel, thus helping safely and effectively brighten the color of your teeth.
  3. During teeth whitening treatment, our Calgary teeth whitening team ensures that your gums, lips and oral tissues are carefully isolated and the POLA whitening solution is applied only to the teeth. The whitening solution is left on the teeth for 8-minute intervals.
  4. After a total of four 8-minute intervals, the maximum whitening effect is achieved. Thus, in less than an hour, you can expect to increase the whiteness of your teeth by up to 2-5 shades.

POLA Dental Whitening Safety And Side Effects

The whitening process will dehydrate the teeth initially, thus minor sensitivity may be experienced for the first 24-48 hours after treatment. Long-term studies on dental whitening show that there is NO LONG TERM DAMAGE to the teeth after dental bleaching and that any sensitivity experienced will diminish over time. However, POLA whitening is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children under 14 years of age.

Maintaining Your New Smile

After the initial whitening session, the best way to maintain the brighter, whiter color of your teeth is to do at-home whitening. But our Calgary teeth whitening patients shouldn’t use just any whitening kit!

At Dr. Korol Dental, custom bleaching trays are made to fit your teeth, so that you don’t have to worry about the kit irritating your gums, or a one-size-fits-all teeth whitening formula. The POLA take-home whitening kit can be safely used at home to maintain the whiter shade. We recommend doing the home- whitening treatment for 15 minutes, every other week to help keep your teeth looking their best!
